the terminally ill
Jun. 20th, 2007 05:00 pmQuestion: Why do we give all these medicines to the terminally ill?
Answer: It makes the caretaker feel like they're doing something. See we got this medicine that clears up phlegm and this medicine for breathlessness and this medicine for anxiety and this one for pain and so on and it really seems like I'm doing something here. Maybe it even makes him feel like I'm doing something. I know when I feel really bad I like someone to come in and take charge, bustling around doing something or other. It makes me feel like someone cares, so who knows, maybe it does help him feel a little better. But mostly I think it helps me.
