Dec. 18th, 2007 07:44 am"I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Some of you I don't know at all because I didn't friend you back (yet?). Perhaps you haven't been around for long, perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.
But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so..."
I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear."
So, dear f-list - give me some fun random facts about yourselves!
I'll start: I don't like memes. It's like when I find a greeting card that says exactly what I want to say to someone. I feel like I have to apologize for being trite. But I really would like to know you people.

Date: 2007-12-18 03:37 pm (UTC)Thanks! A Sentinel story will be going up after the holidays, but yeah, I'm pretty remiss with my fic'ing.

Date: 2007-12-19 05:24 pm (UTC)English literature features far too many dead white guys in my opinion. I don't have an English degree, and you may possibly have a better grasp of English than I do, but if you need something looked over I'd be glad to do it.

Date: 2007-12-19 05:54 pm (UTC)You're the only person on my fl who doesn't share a fandom involvement with me. Which makes me a little nervous.
I'd like to be an inner city teacher, too, except I'm frozen by anxiety in groups and, oh yeah, I don't believe in public education. But other than that I think it would be fascinating.
Deep Space Nine is my favorite Star Trek.
I'm extremely flattered I said something about breastfeeding that you thought was worth quoting. It's one of those issues that really gets me going.

Date: 2007-12-19 06:04 pm (UTC)When I was in Junior High we spent a lot of time making up stories about Chad Everett from Medical Center, a show I can't remember much about. I think there was a lot of emoting and wallowing. I'm thankful it never occurred to us to write the stories down.
I vacillate between wanting to marry Sheppard and wanting to be Sheppard.

Date: 2007-12-19 06:12 pm (UTC)Feminist science fiction and feminism in general are big interests of mine. I'd love to go to conventions and meet people, but I get extremely anxious in groups.
4-H is great but membership and participation is declining dramatically. There are just too many things to do and not enough time. It's a shame, but times they are a-changing.

Date: 2007-12-19 06:20 pm (UTC)I love storytelling too. The stories are what first attracted me to opera though a lot of opera librettos are, um, kind of stupid. But I like the operas with cursed rings and magic potions, heroes and dragons and all that.
I have mixed feelings about Torchwood. I'm a romantic at heart, I guess, and all this seemingly random jumping from bed to bed bores me. I guess I like the show overall since I keep watching it. I haven't read any Torchwood fanfiction that has really wowed me yet, but I'd like to.

Date: 2007-12-20 01:42 am (UTC)Sorry to hear that! WisCon was a good first convention to go to--very open and friendly, rather bookish and intelligent, and in my own town no less. I met tons of cool people there, and it was a good confidence builder for me. I've stayed in touch with a lot of the people I met there, through LJ.
Agree with you about 4-H. I got so much out of the program; I'm sorry to see it struggling.
