Another thing I hated about "Travelers"

I was  insulted and felt patronized by the whole Larrin or whatever her name is punching John while John just stands there like an idiot.

Seriously, these people need to read "Written by the Victors" because they have no idea how to write John's character in a way that would appeal to me.

Yes, that was definitely...strange, to say the least.

I think the "a true gentleman doesn't hit women" thing doesn't apply if the woman in question is pounding the living daylights out of you.

Dunno, I'd expect that Pegasus is full of some very tough women - they're living in some very difficult conditions, after all - and he should have spent enough time around Teyla by now to know that a woman can be a serious threat to his life.

So yeah, I think the real John Sheppard would at least try to block the blows instead of just standing there helplessly.

Het relationships seem to be springing up like crab grass all over the show. I don't like when people are kissing the second they meet unless they're just having a one night stand or something.

Hope you don't mind that I looked at your profile. All awkward people may feel free to gather here, I am the queen of awkward on lj as well as in real life.

Not at all ;) That line is in there as a sort of blanket disclaimer because sometimes I only realise what I've written after I've hit the submit button. Darn, that can be embarassing.

Exactly.

As far as I'm concerned, the only saving grace of that kiss was that Larrin (however she's spelt) was using it to get hold of the gun. But Sheppard falling for it - that's pretty bad. I know he's established in canon as the Guy Who Never Sees It Coming (and therefore somehow always falls for It), but in this case she's established herself as dangerous at best. I think that he'd have reason enough to abstain, not to speak of sore lips from the beating. A makeout session does not an alliance make. /rant

Well, I tried a while back to put a comment here but was bumped out and had to reboot. All I needed to say was that I'm glad I could hate "Travelers" and Larrin and the kiss - ugh - in peace and just dismiss the episode because - smart me - I didn't join LJ until the end of November 2007! So I wasn't faced with an entire LJ community writing about it endlessly! I agree with all you guys say about "Travelers" here.
Love, max

P.S. Yes, keefaq, I'm reading your LJ posts starting from the beginning and working towards the most recent entries! I'm obsessive-compulsive, is all. But my rebooting gave me the opportunity to note with joy that you "mutual friended" me, so it's not all bad.

I hate when they manufacture these instant relationships between total strangers, and the kiss annoyed the hell out of me.

On the other hand, my enjoyment of SGA is greatly multiplied by having other people to share it with.

Oh, yes indeed! When I really like an episode I read all the positive reviews and comments I can get a hand on and revel in the shared joy! But since my LJ friends list (and therefore, the reviews/comments I get to see) is mostly made of people who love/write slash, particularly John/Rodney slash, you can see where "Travelers" would have people up in arms! I'm not sure how bad it was when that episode aired, but I can imagine it did not sit well with the folks I'd be reading! Grin!

OTOH, I suppose I've just gotta take the good with the bad!

It's beautiful here in the Bronx, NYC, today! Sunny, very bright! I love that! My computer table has me facing a fairly large window and part of my happiness consists in looking out the window when the weather is beautiful.... Hope it's lovely where you are, too!
Love, max
