Why I Love Supernatural

Reason #3 that I love Supernatural:
Remember in Wendigo, when Dean likes the botw? First because she compliments his car, but then, when he finds out she and her two brothers are on their own, and
"Look I can't sit around here, anymore... I'm heading out in the morning, and I'm gonna find Tommy myself."
Ackles line, "I think I know how you feel," and his respectful expression toward the woman, speak volumes about the character and push my family, loyalty, and protective buttons so hard. You know before I got into Supernatural, I had the impression that Dean was this brash, sexist, user of women. But already in the second episode we can can see what I love about the character.
I just think it's adorable that what Dean likes about the woman is her unswerving devotion to her family. It makes so much sense.
Also, in the end, all he gets is a friendly little peck on the cheek as a thank you, and he seems happy with that. Adorable.
You know the kind of sexist asshole who continually presents himself as a liberal while finding women so uninteresting that he can't help ignoring them? That to me is the SGA kind of sexist.
Then there's the sexist asshole who makes slanting remarks he doesn't realize or really care are sexist, but he actually pays attention to, listens to, and respects real women. That's the Supernatural type of sexist.

All Dean knows about women he learned from movies and TV - which are hardly reliable source material.
He's rescued women, fought against women, had sex with women - but he's never had a conversation with a woman or spent any extended time with one.
To Dean, women are aliens who smell good.
