“I’ve found something you should take a look at,” McKay said, looking somewhere over his shoulder.
“What’s that?”
“Todd’s personal log. There’s some interesting information in it. It was encrypted, but I’ve
broken it. I’ve emailed you the translated transcript.”
“Right, I’ll take a look at it,” John said, glad for the excuse to escape to his quarters. Things had been a bit awkward with Rodney lately.
Once in his room, he grabbed a beer and then sat down to read. He expected a long series of entries, but it was a short document. Rodney had apparently only sent the entries that were relevant to what he wanted to share.

I have instructed the science department to begin studying the virus we received from the Atlanteans. The humans truly believe we would consider injecting ourselves with this virulent curse. Their child like self-centered naivety amazes me. I have great hope that the virus can be adjusted to become a useful weapon against our enemies.
3-19-42-12
The science department has succeeded in manufacturing a deadly gas from the virus samples we received form the Atlantean’s virus samples. Once released on a rival’s ship it will infect them almost instantly.
3-26-43-12
An accident in the lab has caused the gas, which the science crew manufactured from the virus we received from the Atlanteans, to be released into my ship. Despite protective measures, the virus has penetrated the ship's systems and spread through her into all areas. The entire crew is already infected, myself included. So it appears that the Atlanteans have won after all.
3-29-44-12
We are going to attempt to reach Atlantis in the hope that they, in their infinite mercy, will be able to help us. I am developing a story, which hopefully will play on their weakness, that is, their desire to be merciful to their enemies. If I can convince them that this illness is their responsibility, we may yet live to fight again.
John closed the file. It was no more than he expected from the Wraith, that they would not be able to see beyond their own immediate self-interest.
