I keep watching, over and over again.
Warning: spoilers

Remember smarm? The staring into each others' eyes, excessive touching and outright declarations of love, spending their lives together but still, of course, heterosexual? I forgot how much fun that could be.

Really I have no idea what tptb meant by all this, and I can't stand all this speechifying. The show is obnoxious, but I can't help myself, I've been watching the Alan Shore/Denny Crane parts over and over and it is just so much fun. From the proposal, through the hand holding and the declarations of mutual love, down to the wedding and the last dance on the balcony, it's just adorable.

Loved these lines from Kirk:

"Take my hand."
"You're the man I love."
"I've never been more serious about anything in my entire life."
"It's all worth it, I love ya."

Plus his little confession that all the heterosexaul posturing he does is to distract people from how small he feels.

And my favorite line:

"Think of all the, whaddaya call 'em, poor people."

Alan Shore's lines were even better:

"He completes me."
"By the way I love him, I love the man and he loves me."
"Your honor, this is our wedding day."
"I don't want a mercy dance."

The fact that the most important reason for marrying Denny was "He doesn't want to (assign a legal proxy)he wants a partner, a legal spouse. That's his prerogative."

Also loved Alan's look when Denny insisted that the word cherish be added to the marriage vow, and the way the camera cut to pining!Alan every time he interacted with Candice.

Hee! I feel like I shouldn't like this, but I can't help it.
