Supporting Dreamwidth

I have a bunch of ideas about making a community in honor of Dreamwidth's first anniversary, the purpose of which would be to manage a festival to generate content for our home, and thereby tempt more people to come on over and join the fun.

The problem is that I have such a small circle here that I don't know how to publicize it. If I can't get a few people with wider circles to publicize it for me, I might as well not bother, because it will never get off the ground. Anybody have any suggestions?

I would promote it, and you/we could put up ads in communities. It sounds like a good idea to me!

People like polls. If you float an idea and make a poll to ask for opinions, you'll get attention you can measure and people will link their circle to the poll, especially if you ask them to. Never underestimate the number of folks reading their Network here too.

I really think it's a fantastic idea, and would be a lot of fun too. I hope you get some more interest.

It is frustrating to try to get people to do anything here but post in their own journal.

And I hear you on the having things to do too.

You might see someone else float a similar idea, and you can share your ideas.

Hi! I blew right by this is my OMG GET READY FOR TRIP madness, but I would certainly announce it in my journal if you did it.

i can't commit to anything beyond that, but it sounds like a wonderful idea.

i wonder if denise and mark are planning any official? What is the real actual launch anniversary date? I honestly don't remember, lol.

If you remind me, I'd be willing to announce it in my journal, too, and some of my readers have pretty big circles, though I've been awol for a while.

Her via [personal profile] princessofgeeks -- it might be worth thinking about organizing the festival as a meme, rather than a comm. Or doing it like the various blog festivals, where you have a central comm or post that links to content distributed all over the place.

(Presumably the goal is to generate new content all over DW; you don't want to have all the new content just in the festival comm.)
