If you ask me, he's just settling since Katie is so far (to his/our canon knowledge) the only one interested in him. (thank you Jeannie for making that comment... not...)
Sure, he might genuinely like her (for whatever reason we have not been allowed to see on screen), and she is pretty, but as for love of the kind that leads to happily ever afters... well so far the writers haven't backed that up properly in one single episode. Rodney is basically going through a personality transplant every time he's with her, except for in a recent episode (don't want to spoil you too much if you haven't seen it, lol) and look how not-great that turned out... Can't the writers get that the kind of "love" that changes someone that profoundly isn't going to last and just be done with it... And if they start to really push for the whole John/Teyla thing as well, watching the show will be painful...

Oh, another reason to hope we will see more of our favourite Wraith, lol. I most definitely think we will though. And I'll keep my fingers crossed that more fic is coming is well =)
